A word about Power, Resilience,
When most people think of Power, concepts relating to domination, separation, competition, and fear might come to mind. DE4R teaches a very new and very old architecture of power-- instead of top-down, a horizontal structure tenaciously rooted in connectedness and compassion, humility and shared experience.
We can help students and their communities heal, learn and thrive by engaging youth in work that matters, and by creating education frameworks, institutions, and ecosystems of support that foster connectedness, collaboration, systems thinking and efficacy.
The new "main idea" of school:
Educators and youth bring together community partners to
co-create solutions to real issues. They learn with a purpose, apply what they learn in relevant situations and in relationship with each other, and gain efficacy and shared power.
